Our 5th Annual Peace UCC Charity Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, November 3rd at Starmount Forest Country Club with proceeds benefiting Nevus Outreach, Inc. The event was a great success with over 50 golfers participating.

Peace Church also sponsors basketball and softball teams in the Greensboro Parks & Recreation Church League.

Churchmen's Fellowship

The Churchmen’s Fellowship meets on the third Monday of each month for devotions, dinner, programs, and fellowship. We hope you’ll join us for our next gathering! Our meals range from cookouts in the summer to fabulous lasagna made by the excellent cooks in our Women’s Circles. Our programs include professors from the local universities as well as executives from our UCC ministries.

Each fall we sponsor a benevolent project, making huge pots of Brunswick stew to sell to the Greensboro community. With the profit from it and other income, charitable donations are made to various church and community related ministries.

In 1952 the Churchmen’s Fellowship sponsored an Easter Breakfast following the Sunrise Service. The service and the fellowship time at breakfast were both so meaningful that Peace UCC has continued this fine tradition ever since.

Churchmen’s Fellowship seeks to enlist and coordinate the man power of the church “for the cultivation of the Christian life through study, prayer, fellowship and service, and for the support and success of the whole program of the church in the local congregation, the community, the denomination, and the world at large.” It has been an active functioning part of this congregation since the early 1940’s.

Dinner reservations may be made by calling 336-299-8663.

Women's Circles

The Women’s Fellowship of Peace United Church of Christ cordially invites you to visit one or more of our circle groups and learn about the many things we are doing locally and nationally. The Women’s Fellowship is one of the most active and vital organizations in the life of Peace United Church of Christ. With emphasis on fellowship and service, the Women’s Fellowship serves the local church, the community, and the world through its four circles of dedicated women. Monthly meeting times allow women to choose one that fits their preference and are as follows:

Circle # 1 - 10:00 A.M. the firstTuesday after the first Sunday

Circle # 2 - 2:00 P.M. the first Monday after the first Sunday

Circle # 3 - 7:30 P.M. the first Monday after the first Sunday

Circle # 4 - 10:00 A.M. the first Monday after the first Sunday

Some of the ways the Women’s Fellowship contributes, in addition to their regular circle meetings, are:

  • Sponsor monthly VSP (Very Special People) luncheons, a gathering of adults that include a lunch, programs and entertainment.
  • Through the Alter Flower Committee, sponsor weekly floral offerings as well as Easter lilies and Christmas poinsettias that are placed upon the sanctuary alter in honor of those persons on a care list.
  • Provide meals for the Men’s Fellowship monthly meetings as a fund raising event and provide assistance for the Men’s Fellowship brunswick stew.
  • Provide services and meals to members of the church when a death occurs or for those who are sick or disabled.
  • Sponsor the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet in May.
  • Sponsor the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day bulletin inserts and the funds raised are given to specific projects.
  • Provide benevolent gifts to local and national service organizations.
  • Assist with food drives for Urban Ministry.
  • Provide refreshments in the narthex on the fourth Sunday of each month after worship service.
  • Contribute to UCC related institutions and camps.
  • Participate in the delivery of Mobile Meals on the second Thursday of each month.

The Women’s Fellowship organization at Peace Church is a wonderful way to participate in service to others and at the same time enjoy the fellowship of dedicated, Christian women through one of the circle groups. If interested, please contact the church office for more information.

Youth Fellowship

Rosina Whitfield, Youth Director
(Email: rwhitfield@peaceucc.com)

" Youth at Peace" is an active and dedicated group designed and geared toward middle school and high school youth. The goal and mission of Youth at Peace is to grow in a personal relationship with God while also growing closer with each member of the group. Youth at Peace meet on a weekly basis for fellowship, food, fun and Bible study. The youth often carry out service projects such as preparing and serving meals at Greensboro Urban Ministry, visiting residents at local area nursing care facilities, and beautification projects, just to name a few.

Youth at Peace have a lot of fun taking trips during the year. In the past the youth have traveled to the mountains of West Virginia and North Carolina for Snow Skiing Retreat weekends, the beach, and Tennessee for the National Youth Event 2004.

We plan and participate in Sunday morning worship several times through out the year, including the Hanging of the Greens service right before Christmas and Youth Sunday (we get to lead it all that Sunday). We also "liturgicize," (some call it liturgical dance) for worship during liturgical Sundays, such as Pentecost and Easter. It's cool!!

We have fun and work hard, too because we feel we make a difference in our church and in this world. Youth at Peace invite you to be a part of Youth at Peace. There is a place for you here at Peace United Church of Christ. We will save some pizza and ice cream for you!
